Valentine’s Day
11-Feb-2011It’s nearly Valentine’s Day and what better way to get your students’ creative juices flowing and out their inner Romeo than to have them write some love poetry.
If they are just not the romantic type, then tell them they can also use the poem as a chance to break some bad news to their nearest and dearest. For example:
1. They’ve got a new job 2,000 miles away.
2. They accidently ran over their girlfriend’s cat.
3. Their mum is coming to stay for the next month.
If they’re stuck for inspiration why not teach them the classic ‘Roses are red, violets are blue’ format. Example:
‘Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I reversed over your cat,
And don’t know what to do!’
Then to round the class off have your students send you their poem in a valentines-themed e-card
